Project: Forty Something - We install 42" Iroks on a 3" lifted 2 door JK

Since I like to build my rigs with as low a center of gravity as possible, I decided to build a new JK with 42 inch tires but with only 3 inches of lift. We will accomplish with lots of sheet metal and frame modification. The pictures will show you how we did it. The rear wheelbase was stretched by putting front lower control arms in the back for about a 4" stretch. We got Currie Enterprises to supply the axles, lift kit and Antirock sway bars. Bilstein shocks will be used. The Pro Comp wheels have the new style Staun internal beadlock. PSC is supplying the ram assist. And of course it will be getting our new 392 hemi that is actually a 5.7 that we added a stroker kit to. With the headwork and custom engine programming this engine pushes out 505 horse. I moved the gas filler back to where the left taillight used to be. The color of this JK will be 2008 Viper Snakeskin green and will have an AEV heat reduction hood. Custom rollcage and tube fenders are being built right now. This JK will be showcased out at Moab this year and I plan on having some fun with it.

The 392 is installed and all done. The motor cover emblem plate has been painted Viper snakeskin green which is what the new color will be. The motor install was done with a combination of AEV and BOR componetry so that I can have real headers on the 392 and still retain the upper control arm mounts. Dyno tests showed a 40 horse increase on this setup over using the 5.7 cast iron manifolds.

Jeff Ward and I have been working on the new cage for 40 Something. I wanted something different than what I have seen so far on a JK and it looks like Jeff has done it. When the cage is done we will start on the tube fenders. We are debating whether or not to build fenders for the rear but Ithink we need them.

Here is a look at the flat fender install on forty something. We built our own tube fenders and also built our own full length corner guards. Everything will be finished off and painted to match.

Here is an update on the tube fenders--almost ready for final paint.
